Moto3: Fast from the start and flawless throughout, David Almansa (LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP) was in mighty form to lead the way under the Aragon sun.
The 13th round of the 2026 Moto3 season also saw the return to action of Championship leader Maximo Quiles (CFMOTO Viel Aspar Team) after his British GP collarbone break.
Almansa set his fast lap on his own with a 1’57.473 more than good enough to see him take P1 on day one of action. 0.079s behind and with a late lap, Rico Salmela (Red Bull KTM Tech3) enjoyed his best session of the season thus far as the Finn hopes to fly to a first podium. Rounding out the top three was British GP podium finisher and Salmela’s teammate Valentin Perrone as the Argentine set a solid pace throughout.
Top Honda honours went to Adrian Fernandez (Leopard Racing), with the #31 picking up his P4 from Silverstone and continuing in the same vein at Aragon. Alvaro Carpe (Red Bull KTM Ajo) was fifth whilst locking out the top six was Irish star Casey O’Gorman (SIC58 Squadra Corse).
Other notable riders throughout included Jesus Rios (Rivacold Snipers Team) in P7 to make it three rookies in the top 10 as well as Quiles returning to P8. British GP polesitter Scott Ogden (CIP GreenPower) finds himself in Q1 having missed out on a Q2 spot by 0.010s. There was a big crash early in the session for Cormac Buchanan (CODE Motorsports) who highsided at the final corner. He was OK and walked away but couldn’t get back out in the session, a shame after being P3 in FP1.
