Moto3: It had been a decade since a Malaysian rider topped the timesheets in any session in Moto3 and then, two P1s come along at once.
Hakin Danish (AEON Credit – MT Helmets – MSI) topped not just FP1 but Practice as well as he’s the rider to beat going through into Saturday whilst there are surprises right through the Moto3 order.
Setting the pace throughout the day and indeed the afternoon, Danish got down to business and took advantage of a clear track to set a 1’46.943 – the only rider in Moto3 to get into the 1’46 bracket. He led a KTM 1-2 with Brian Uriarte (Red Bull KTM Ajo) in hot pursuit whilst top Honda honours went to Adrian Fernandez (Leopard Racing), the Spaniard arriving off the back of two consecutive podiums at Jerez and Le Mans.
Next up came 2025 polesitter David Almansa (LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP) team whilst Valentin Perrone climbed into P5 after a slower start in the morning. Matteo Bertelle (LEVELUP-MTA) completed the top six whilst Championship leader Maximo Quiles (CFMOTO Gaviota Aspar Team) secured seventh.
Big names not able to get themselves a direct passage to Q2 include David Muñoz (LIQUI MOLY Dynavolt Intact GP), who had initially moved into P10 on his final flying lap but had it cancelled for yellow flags. He’s joined by Alvaro Carpe (Red Bull KTM Ajo) who crashed for a second consecutive Practice session and finds himself in Q1 again whilst it’s a third in a row for Guido Pini (Leopard Racing).
