Hours of punishing terrain, demanding special tests and a race against the clock. A look inside Scottish timecard enduro.

Deep ruts, steep climbs, slippery woodland trails and hours of physically demanding riding. Drumtochty Enduro in Aberdeenshire delivers all of it, testing both riders and machines throughout the day.

BRAAP Scotland headed to Drumtochty for the final round of the 2026 Scottish Timecard Enduro Championship, capturing the racing, atmosphere and experiences of the competitors in a new film.

It’s not simply a race to the finish

Unlike motocross, where riders race directly against each other around a circuit, timecard enduro brings an entirely different challenge.

Competitors follow a marked off-road course, often spending several hours on their bikes and completing multiple laps of demanding terrain.

But there’s a catch.

The main loop isn’t necessarily where the race is won. Instead, it tests riders’ stamina, concentration and ability to keep moving before they reach the timed special test.

After battling through the demanding terrain, often already exhausted, competitors must find the energy and precision to ride as quickly as possible against the clock.

The loop wears you down. The special test is where you need to deliver.

And as if that wasn’t enough, riders must manage their time between checkpoints. Arrive too early or too late, and time penalties can affect their overall result.

It’s a balancing act between staying on schedule, conserving energy and being ready to push when it matters.

More than just speed

Perhaps that’s what makes timecard enduro so appealing.

It’s about endurance, determination, managing mistakes and the satisfaction of completing something genuinely difficult. For many riders, simply reaching the finish is an achievement in itself.

The Drumtochty event was organised by Bon Accord Motorcycle Club, with video production supported by the club and the Scottish Auto Cycle Union (SACU).

With more than 20,000 views on YouTube, the BRAAP Scotland film is helping introduce a wider audience to a discipline that rarely receives mainstream motorcycle coverage.

For those watching from the comfort of home, one question remains: would you put yourself through it?
