The official charity partner of MotoGP™ returned to Silverstone to host a wide range of fan experiences and auctions that support the transportation of vital healthcare to remote communities in Africa
Two Wheels for Life—the official charity partner of MotoGP—has raised a record-setting €234,000 during the GP of Champions celebrations across the Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Great Britain race weekend. These funds directly support Two Wheels’ programmes in The Gambia, Nigeria, Lesotho, and Malawi that provide vital transportation for healthcare services to remote and underserved communities.
From Thursday August 6 to Sunday August 9, Two Wheels hosted a series of events, auctions, and one-of-a-kind experiences that got race fans closer to MotoGP action than ever before.
Two Wheels Co-Founder and CEO Andrea Coleman said: “The GP of Champions at Silverstone is our biggest and most important event of the calendar year, and we are so proud that the motorcycle community has come together to support our mission at Two Wheels for Life with our largest fundraising total ever.”
GP of Champions kicked off Thursday with 750 guests at Two Wheels’ sold-out MotoGP Experience Day, which provided participants with exclusive paddock access to rub shoulders with the riders and teams as they prepare for the race weekend ahead. Thursday also opened the helmet and leathers park managed by Two Wheels for attendees travelling by motorcycle to Silverstone, which was open through Sunday.
Friday saw the launch of the Silverstone Challenge in MotoGP’s Racing for the Future Truck at the Fan Zone, where over 150 fans made a donation to ride the MotoGP Simulator, with the fastest lap around the Silverstone circuit winning a MotoGP grid experience for two during the grand prix on Sunday. 16-year-old Kacper Dubanowski was crowned winner with a blistering 1.55:699 fast lap.
Friday also featured 10 fans participating in a unique, top-speed pillion ride around the Silverstone circuit on a Ducati MotoEX2, piloted by Ducati test rider Franco Battaini and former Grand Prix racer Fonsi Nieto.
The two charity auctions took place Friday and Saturday featuring one-of-a-kind experiences and memorabilia from MotoGP and beyond, hosted by MotoGP TV presenters Michael Hill, Suzy Perry and Gavin Emmett. They were joined on stage by riders from all MotoGP teams who greeted the crowd, discussed the red-hot race to win the world championship, and signed exclusive pieces of memorabilia that were available for auction immediately.
The auctions over the weekend raised €122k with top items including a Valencia MotoGP experience for the final race of the season (€8.4k), a pair of tickets to the FIM Award Dinner in Malaga, Spain (€5.8k), a VR46 Team Experience for two during the grand prix (€5.25), a signed Alex Marquez replica helmet (€4.9k) and boots (€4k), a set of Barry Sheene replica championship leathers from Dainese (€3.6k) as well as experiences to enjoy over the weekend, Sprint Grid passes (€3.3k) and MotoGP village experience (€2.9k).
And finally, on Sunday, Two Wheels hosted various auction winners and guests to a full day of race excitement, with access to the VIP Village, paddock, starting grids, podium celebration, and press conferences across the MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 races.
