By nature, a modular helmet is designed to adapt to a wide range of riding situations. With Specter, Sena takes that logic further by making connectivity a native feature, built into the helmet from the very start.
Unlike conventional modular helmets, Specter is connected straight out of the box. Communication, navigation and audio are fully integrated into the riding experience — with no add-ons, no installation, and no compromises.
A conventional modular helmet already offers genuine versatility.
Its modularity is essentially mechanical by design. With the chin bar raised, it becomes an open-face helmet — ideal in urban riding, improving visibility and airflow. With the chin bar down, it provides greater protection and comfort at higher speeds.
On a traditional modular helmet, however, versatility stops there.
When connectivity extends modularity
With Specter, Sena goes further by integrating communication features directly into the helmet. This built-in connectivity extends modularity by opening the door to new use cases that can be activated — or not
— depending on riding conditions, without changing the helmet itself.
For example, when fatigue starts to creep in, talking with a passenger or the group helps the rider stay mentally engaged, without stopping or losing focus. In heavy or urban traffic, spoken GPS instructions make it easier to anticipate lane changes while keeping eyes on the road. When riding in a group, communication allows hazards to be flagged instantly — loose gravel, a stopped vehicle, an animal — so the group can adapt in real time.
In all these situations, the helmet remains the same. It is equally at home on the daily commute, a weekend ride or a long-distance journey, with no adjustments and no additional equipment required. This ability to move seamlessly from one riding context to another, made possible by integrated connectivity, is what truly extends the modular helmet concept.
An audio system that adapts to riding conditions
Whether the chin bar is open in Jet mode in an urban environment or closed like a full-face helmet on roads and motorways, sound performance remains consistent. Music stays clear and voices remain easy to understand. The audio system adapts to riding conditions thanks to second-generation Harman Kardon speakers and intelligent AINR noise reduction on the microphone. It allows riders to move naturally between silence, communication and music, without compromising audio quality — even at higher speeds or in noisy urban surroundings.
This ability to adapt to the ride is further enhanced by a battery life of up to 35 hours of talk time, along with fast charging that delivers up to 7 hours of use in just 20 minutes. Safe Power Mode also allows the system to be powered directly from an external source without drawing on the battery, helping to prevent overheating and extend battery lifespan.
Together, these features allow the helmet to support journeys of very different lengths and contexts, while maintaining the same level of comfort and functionality throughout.
“With Specter, we wanted to fully deliver on the modular helmet concept by making connectivity a native feature. The goal was to create a helmet that can adapt to every riding situation, with no add-ons and no compromises.” — Vlada Bokza, Motorcycle Marketing Manager Europe, Sena
Integrated safety and visibility, adapted to each situation
With Specter, Sena applies the same modular logic to safety. The helmet automatically adapts its level of visibility to riding conditions, without requiring any action from the rider. In heavy traffic or low-light environments, the integrated rear light improves the rider’s visibility to other road users. During braking, the stop light function instantly reinforces visibility — particularly valuable in urban traffic, queues or at night.
This integrated safety is a core part of the helmet, just like communication and audio. It activates when the situation calls for it, with no add-ons and no adjustments, naturally supporting different riding uses — from everyday commuting to long-distance travel.
Sena Specter features a composite fibreglass shell, an integrated sun visor, Pinlock compatibility, and meets the ECE R22.06 standard with dual P/J homologation. Solid fundamentals designed to support both daily riding and extended journeys.
Sena Specter will be available from early March, priced at €619. Full details are available at sena.com.
