WorldSPB: Starting from the middle of the front row meant that Matteo Vannucci (Revo-M2) was always in contention for the race win.
The Italian, a six times winner in the WorldSSP300 class, led for all but one of the 12 laps. A mistake a Turn 2 on the penultimate lap opened the door for David Salvador (Team ProDina Kawasaki XCI) and Jeffrey Buis (Track & Trades Wixx Racing) but the Italian refused to concede the race win and he came back through to hold off Buis by just 0.059s.
Having led on the final lap Salvador had a massive save through Turn 15 on the final lap. He held his Kawasaki up on his elbow and recovered to his composure to attack into Turn 20 and came past his teammate, Antonio Torres. Salvador now leads the standings by a single point from Buis.
Bruno Ieraci will start from pole position in Race 2 having set the fastest lap of the race.
P1 – Matteo Vannucci (Revo-M2)
“Today went really well. We were able to take the win and I’m very happy about that. Race 1 was amazing for me because I was leading and feeling strong throughout the race. I made a small mistake on the final lap, I hit a false neutral, so I had to recover quickly and try to close the gap again to the other riders. In the end, I’m super happy to take the victory. I’d also like to thank Aprilia for the technical support and for the fantastic work they are doing.”
