WorldSSP: A mid-race red flag after Lap 11, triggered by a heavy crash for Tom Booth-Amos (PTR Triumph Factory Racing) at Turn 3, brought the opening contest to an early conclusion.
At the time of the stoppage, Oncu (Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing) was leading the field and started the five-lap restart from pole position.
Roberto Garcia claimed his first WorldSSP victory in dramatic fashion at Magny-Cours, with the GMT94 Yamaha rider taking advantage of a final-lap mistake from Can Oncu to secure a maiden win for the French team. Garcia kept Oncu within reach throughout the restarted race before the decisive moment came on the final lap. Oncu struggled to stop his Yamaha for the Turn 15 right-hander and ran wide, allowing Garcia to take the lead and cross the line for the first victory of his career. The Spaniard’s breakthrough success came just one day after finishing runner-up to Oncu in Race 1, while GMT94 Yamaha celebrated a memorable home victory.
Championship leader Albert Arenas (AS BLU CRU Racing Team) produced a determined performance despite suffering a right-hand injury in Race 1. The Spanish rookie had been running inside the podium positions before the red flag and, starting third on the grid for the restart, immediately attacked for the lead. Arenas led before eventually finishing second, securing valuable championship points ahead of his title rival Valentin Debise (EASTROC ZXMOTO Evan Bros Factory).
Championship Highlights
Arenas continues to lead the WorldSSP Riders’ Championship, with his advantage over Debise now standing at 70 points. Oncu remains third in the standings, holding a six-point advantage over Jaume Masia (Orelac Racing VerdNatura).
Yamaha extended its advantage in the Manufacturers’ Championship to 72 points over Ducati, while QJMOTOR scored its first points of the season. Raffaele de Rosa secured three points for the manufacturer with 13th position.

“This feels amazing. Yesterday I said that I wanted to fight for first position. From warm-up I felt good on the bike and had some good laps and I really pushed to make a strong start to the race. We had a small mistake at the start off the line but I came back and when the red flag came out I knew it was possible to attack with more confidence. This win is amazing for Yamaha, we have a really good bike, and I think we can fight for the podium, and for wins, in the other races too.”
