Worldssp: Maiden Victory For Valentin DebiseWorldSSP: Valentin Debise (Renzi Corse) withstood constant pressure from Can Oncu (Yamaha BLU CRU Evan Bros Team) throughout the 15 lap duration.

With ten changes of leads throughout the race Debise came back through on each occasion that Oncu took the lead. It’s taken Debise 89 races to claim his maiden victory but it went down to wire with a margin of victory of just one tenth of a second.

Oncu and Stefano Manzi (Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing) delivered Yamaha a brace of podium finishes. The Aragon Round is the first round that the Yamaha YZF R9 has been docked 800rpm.

By setting the fastest lap of the race Philipp Oettl (Feel Racing WorldSSP Team) will start Race 2 from pole position. Manzi and Filippo Farioli (MV Agusta Reparto Corse) will complete the front row. Debise and Oncu will start in fifth and seventh positions respectively.

Championship Highlights

  • With five races remaining Manzi holds an advantage of 65 points from Oncu.
  • A sixth place finish allowed Jaume Masia (Orelac Racing Verdnatura) to close to within eight points of Tom Booth-Amos. The PTR Triumph rider was classified in 16th position after a race race penalty.

P1 – Valentin Debise (Renzi Corse)
“It feels great. I’ve been waiting a long time for a win after having so many second and third positions. I’ve pushed hard and I’ve worked on improving myself and today I could finally put everything together. Winning after a last-corner battle makes it even more special. Oncu can sometimes be aggressive but today we were both very clean. I knew he would be there the whole time, pushing me so this victory feels really good.”
