WorldSSP: The race was a constant battle between Albert Arenas (AS BLU CRU Racing Team) and Can Oncu (Pata Yamaha Ten Kate Racing) as they continued where they finished yesterday’s race in a fight for the victory.
Oncu led for the first 14 laps but with four laps remaining Arenas took the lead and, despite pressure from Oncu, he held him off to win by 0.419s.
Roberto Garcia claimed the first podium in WorldSSP. The 19 year old Spaniard spent all 18 laps in third position but in a constant battle with other riders. Having crashed out of the lead yesterday it was an accomplished ride where he finished just over half a second behind the race winner.
Having started from 25th on the grid Jaume Masia (Orelac Racing Verdnatura) made swift progress to be inside the Top 15 after the opening lap, the top ten on Lap 2 and then slowly chipped away at the leading group to finish in fifth position. Having arrived in Hungary as the championship leader a Superpole crash made for a difficult weekend with 11 points his reward in Race 2.
The opening laps saw Philipp Oettl (Feel Racing WorldSSP Team) retire following a Turn 5 crash, while a technical issue sidelined Race 1 winner Valentin Debise (EASTROC ZXMOTO Evan Bros Factory).

- Yamaha and Ducati are now tied at the top of the Manufacturer Standings.

“This win means a lot to me. I’m really happy with our performance this weekend. I knew we could make a step today and I’m glad we managed to do it. I really enjoyed the final part of the race. It was tough because the pace was high, and you can still see there are differences in riding styles, setups and gearing. I still have work to do to understand where we can improve further. Overall, I’m very happy for the team and for everyone who has worked so hard to achieve this.”
