Moto4 British Cup: Magical, spectacular and a double Silverstone winner: Frost triumphs in Round 5 as the British Cup went to battle in front of the MotoGP paddock!
Frost serves up a Saturday stunner
Pressure and stakes couldn’t be higher as the R&G Moto4 British Cup rolled into Silverstone for a special Grand Prix weekend appearance. Ryan Frost (Fibre Tec Honda-By Mlav Racing) returned to the top step, clinching his first win since Donington Park in May and defeating title rival Jack Dunabie (Kovara Projects/RS Racing). The #63 finished a mere 0.061s behind Frost, being joined on the podium by rookie teammate Luke Fitchett (Kovara Projects/RS Racing) following a thrilling Race 1 scrap.
It was a phenomenal start from title contender Dunabie, stealing the holeshot at Turn 1. Polesitter Harrison Day (LRA Moto supported by HV Solutions) tried to attack at the start, settling into a scrap with Tyler Humphries (Fibre Tec Honda-By Mlav Racing) and Frost, who were both in search of Silverstone success. Pressure was high in front of the British GP crowd, with Marco Holt (City Lifting/ RS Racing) becoming a rider to watch as the #37 battled from P11 on the grid to the front group.
There was drama in the opening laps too, with Hudson Cooper (Rides R Us NW Racing) crashing out at Turn 3 – making it a Saturday to forget. Jack Burrows (Burrows Engineering/RK Racing) went down moments later too, marking a huge moment in 2026’s title race. Back at the front, Frost was the timesheet star, setting the early pace before Dunabie eventually clocked the fastest lap with a 2:19:404s. The lead changed hands too, with Dunabie, Holt, Humphries and Frost all enjoying their turn at the front.
Laps ticked down and tension rose… The British Cup was back in full flow and ready for another final lap thriller. Alex Remesal-Lomas (Fibre Tec Honda-By Mlav Racing) entered the last lap as the race leader, before his teammates were on the attack. Frost attacked at the end of the Hangar Straight, leaving everything to be decided at Vale. Although Dunabie looked for an opportunity, Frost held onto victory, beating Dunabie and Fitchett.
Frost’s winning margin sat at 0.061s, finishing ahead of RS Racing duo Dunabie and Fitchett, who stood on Silverstone’s iconic podium. Humphries missed out in fourth, whilst Mason Foster (Ultrawhippet) rounded out the top five runners on Saturday. Holt took sixth, with Remesal-Lomas clinching seventh as George Bowes (A Edwards Racing) grabbed eighth spot. Polesitter Day finished down in ninth as Clayton Edmunds (City Lifting/ RS Racing) earned the final spot inside the top 10.
Frost stamps his authority on Sunday
We returned for more on Sunday morning, with Ryan Frost charging out the gate quickest – grabbing Race 2’s top honours. Frost took his fifth win of the season, doubling up in Round 5 and stretching his title margin to 21 points. 0.200s separated the top three trio as Marco Holt earned a superb second and Jack Dunabie took an eighth consecutive R&G Moto4 British Cup podium. Race 2 was one to remember, marking the perfect end to our British GP weekend!
Dunabie claimed the perfect launch from pole position in Race 2, with the 22-rider field following in chase of the #63. It didn’t take too long for a battle to ignite as Mason Foster made a brave move for P1, slotting into prime real estate. Frost also woke up strong, looking to complete a Silverstone sweep on Sunday morning as he entered the podium fight. It was all change in the opening laps, with Holt, Fitchett, Day and more also in the mix.
There was drama further back, with Aeziah Divine (Fibre Tec Honda-By Mlav Racing) and Henry McCartney (Stanford Racing) colliding – ending their Grand Prix weekend experience – and scoring no points. Back at the front, the pace was ramped up once again as Dunabie maintained control through the 3.67-mile circuit. The laps ticked down, the group continued to grow, now at 12 riders with George Bowes at the tail end of the fight. Frost showed his cards for the first time with three laps remaining, setting up a legendary finale at Silverstone.
As we built towards a grandstand finish in Race 2, Max Rhodes (Wilson Racing) suffered late drama, crashing out – rider OK. Holt led the field onto the final lap, with all eyes on the Fibre Tec Honda-By Mlav Racing riders as Humphries attacked and Frost was left with work to do in P5. Under pressure and with high expectations, Frost was magical, carving through the field before attacking at Stowe and clinching the double.

Humphries was unable to grab a second podium, finishing the weekend in fourth as Mason Foster took the final spot inside the top five. Further back, George Bowes was sixth, beating Alex Remesal-Lomas and Jack Burrows, whilst Luke Fitchett placed a solid ninth. Harrison Day rounded out the top 10, with Joshua Williams (Dunsley Heat Racing) earning the final point.
