There were plenty of noteworthy results, including one motorbike fetching almost six times its lower estimate, at H&H Classics’ final motorcycle auction of 2026.
The sale at the National Motorcycle Museum in Solihull on Wednesday 28th Octobersaw more than 200 lots go under the hammer, achieving a very impressive sales rate of 87 per cent and total sales of over ÂŁ860,000.
Among the notable results was a very rare 1904 Werner Motocyclette fetching ÂŁ17,825, almost six times its lower estimate of ÂŁ3,000. Its appeal strongly helped by the fact it comes from a highly influential French manufacturer, while having the makings of a very worthwhile project which should be eligible for the Pioneer Run for pre-1915 veteran machines.
Following hot on its heels was a stunning 1955 Vincent Black Shadow/Steib S501 Sidecar, an ideal combination of two iconic brands, which found a new home for ÂŁ39,675, almost ÂŁ22,000 above its lower estimate.
Mike Davis, senior motorcycle specialist at H&H Classics, said: “It’s incredibly pleasing to round off our fantastic 2026 classic motorcycle and vintage scooter auctions with another impressive result.
“Not only were there individual lots doing extremely well, but there was strong interest across the board as reflected in the sales rate.”
Meanwhile, another Vincent putting in a strong performance was a 1952 Vincent Series C “Shadow Rapide” which fetched £25,588, more than £8,500 above its lower estimate.
Offered from 38 years of single ownership, and the winner of several trophies following a ground-up restoration, it is fitted with a Rapide engine and was offered with many old MOTs.
Meanwhile, a 1976 Velocette Thruxton Geoff Dodkin Special, believed to have been constructed by the renowned Velocette specialist using a post-production frame, was hammered away for ÂŁ9,890, almost ÂŁ6,400 above its lower estimate.
Among the more modern machinery, the highest price achieved on the day was for a 1997 Honda RVF750R RC45, one of a very limited number of UK market, full power examples. It sold for ÂŁ26,450, more than ÂŁ3,400 above its lower estimate.

Vintage scooters also stole the show at the auction, not least a striking 1966 Lambretta SX200 which sold for ÂŁ6,900, which was ÂŁ1,900 above its lower estimate, and a fully restored 1960 Lambretta Li 150, which found a new home for ÂŁ3,450, almost ÂŁ1,500 above its lower estimate.
