Warranty Solutions Group (WSG) has launched a new direct-to-consumer motorcycle warranty proposition, giving riders direct access to protection as repair costs, labour rates and motorcycle complexity continue to rise across the UK market.
The launch follows growing demand from riders seeking greater certainty around long-term ownership costs as modern motorcycles become increasingly reliant on advanced electronics, rider-assist systems and integrated technology.
The new warranty proposition has been developed following extensive feedback from both dealers and consumers and is designed to provide straightforward protection against unexpected repair bills for riders across all experience levels – from CBT riders through to advanced and experienced motorcyclists.
New research from WSG reveals that average motorcycle labour costs per claim increased from £114.56 in 2024 to £118.75 in 2025, representing a 3.66 percent year-on-year rise as workshops face growing technical complexity, rising operating costs and increasing demand for specialist diagnostic expertise.
At the same time, WSG’s live claims data highlights how routine repair issues continue to impact riders across the UK. Suspension fork seals account for 9.09 percent of all motorcycle warranty claims, while battery-related faults represent a further 8.23 percent, reinforcing the growing importance of long-term protection as ownership costs continue to rise.
Simon Drown, Head of Specialist Products & Motorcycles at Warranty Solutions Group, said: “Modern motorcycles are evolving rapidly and while the technology delivers incredible riding experiences, it also introduces far greater repair complexity and cost exposure when something goes wrong.
“Electrical systems, sensors, ECU-controlled components and electronically managed suspension systems are now becoming common across the motorcycle market. The reality is that even relatively routine faults can now involve advanced diagnostics, specialist labour and significantly higher repair costs.
“We’ve developed this product over several years by listening carefully to both riders and dealers. The result is a warranty designed to deliver genuine protection, transparency and peace of mind without unnecessary complexity.”
WSG says the motorcycle market is also changing demographically, with more younger riders entering the sector, many of whom are unfamiliar with the true long-term cost of motorcycle ownership.
According to WSG, labour rates, servicing costs and complex repairs are becoming increasingly significant factors in ownership, particularly as manufacturers continue introducing technology previously associated with the automotive market.
Stuart King, CEO of BMIC said: “The motorcycle market is continuing to evolve as riders place greater emphasis on affordability, long-term ownership confidence and transparency around running costs. As motorcycles become more technologically advanced, the importance of trusted protection products and clear aftersales support is only increasing.
“Riders today are holding onto bikes for longer and are becoming far more focused on reliability, maintenance and managing unexpected repair costs throughout ownership. Products that provide reassurance, simplicity and genuine value will play an increasingly important role in supporting rider confidence across the market.”
Recent insight from WSG’s Motorcycle Market View Report highlighted how electrical faults, ECU failures and electronically controlled suspension systems are becoming increasingly prominent within claims data as motorcycles continue their technological evolution.
The report also highlighted growing demand from riders for transparency, trust and long-term reliability as ownership decisions become increasingly shaped by practical considerations and rising living costs.
WSG says one of the major differentiators within its motorcycle warranty proposition is the inclusion of wear and tear and consequential damage cover, areas often excluded within traditional warranty products.
Simon Drown added: “People want a product that does exactly what it says on the tin. No fluff, no hidden exclusions and no complicated processes – just straightforward protection that delivers when riders need it most.
“Our ambition is to become the go-to provider for motorcycle warranties in the UK by building products that genuinely reflect how modern riders use and own their bikes.”
The launch forms part of WSG’s wider direct-to-consumer expansion across petrol, diesel, hybrid, electric and motorcycle warranties.
