New UK platform ‘The Parts Shop’ launches a dedicated peer-to-peer home to buy, sell, and request parts with an intentional cultural stance against throwaway consumerism.
As modern vehicles shift increasingly toward unserviceable engines, subscription-locked electronics, a new independent British platform is offering an intentional detour.
The Parts Shop (theparts.shop) has officially launched, connecting buyers and sellers of parts across five dedicated sectors: Cars, Motorcycles, Agriculture, Commercial & Military, and Workshop & Tools.
Founded by a software designer with over 20 years in building web platforms and a lifelong passion for car restoration, the platform bridges practical garage needs with modern technology:
- 0% Platform Seller Commission
- Supporting clubs: Clubs can run parts sales directly through the site or share dedicated QR codes; a cut of fees flows directly back into club treasuries to fund meets, rallies, insurance, and running costs.
- Intelligent Cross-Matching: The site identifies shared parts across different models, multiplying buyer reach.
- Protected Peer-to-Peer Trading: Escrow-backed payments and secure handovers remove the risks of unprotected bank transfers.
“Most people don’t spend weekends in a garage because they can’t afford a new car—they do it because they care about what’s already sitting there,” says Ryan, Founder of The Parts Shop. “Just because something needs a bit of work doesn’t mean it belongs in the bin.
“Selling spares has always felt like hard work, whether you’ve got one rare part under your workbench or a warehouse holding tens of thousands of lines. Individuals get stuck trying to guess categories, and big stockists get bogged down by endless admin. We built The Parts Shop to do the heavy lifting for both.”
The Road Ahead
While currently welcoming sellers to seed parts onto the shelves, the platform is preparing its next major phase of development:
- Easy eBay Imports: The platform is finalising automated import tools, allowing high-volume dismantlers and stores to mirror large inventories.
- Native Mobile Apps: iPhone and Android apps are in active development to bring one-tap listing and parts discovery straight to workshop benches and autojumbles.
- International Expansion: Preparations are underway to support cross-border parts sourcing, connecting UK custodians with international specialist communities.
Built for the fixers, custodians, and late-night garage builders. The dedicated UK home to buy, sell, and preserve analogue machines.
Enthusiasts, trade stockists, and club organisers can explore the platform or list surplus parts at https://theparts.shop.
