Roberto Garcia To Continue With Gmt94 Yamaha Worldssp Team In 2026Yamaha Motor Europe is pleased to announce Roberto Garcia will continue with the GMT94 Yamaha WorldSSP Team in the FIM Supersport World Championship in 2026 alongside Lucas Mahias.

The 2024 European Moto2 Champion joined Christophe Guyot’s team mid-way through the 2025 season and instantly impressed with a sixth-place finish from 20th on the grid in his first weekend with the team at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli.

The 19-year-old Spaniard has shown consistent speed over the last four rounds, with a best result of fifth at Donington Park and Balaton Park, knocking on the door of a maiden WorldSSP podium.

Garcia will remain aboard the R9 with the GMT94 Yamaha WorldSSP Team in 2026, contracted directly to Yamaha Motor Europe, as he looks to build on the promising progress made in his rookie campaign alongside French team-mate Lucas Mahias, who remains with GMT94 Yamaha for a third successive season.

Niccolò Canepa, Road Racing Sporting Manager, Yamaha Motor Europe
“Roberto has really impressed us since joining the GMT94 Yamaha team at Misano, showing speed straight away despite little experience with the R9 and some of the tracks we’ve raced at so far this year. He has been close to a podium on several occasions, and we are confident he will find himself in those top three positions before the end of the season. He has fitted into the team well, and with the speed and talent he has demonstrated it made perfect sense to continue with him into 2026. This also means an unchanged line-up for GMT94, with Lucas Mahias remaining with the team for a third season, meaning the team as a whole can continue the positive work they’ve done with the R9 this season, building on this into 2026.”
