FIM JuniorGP: The JuniorGP grid is set following a day of high drama as tension builds in Barcelona.
The FIM JuniorGP™ World Championship had poles decided at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, with titles on the line during the penultimate round of the season. Brian Uriarte (UAX SeventyTwo Artbox) made it five consecutive pole positions in JuniorGP, while Eric Fernandez (FAU55TEYRACING) is on pole in the Moto2™ European Championship. In the European Talent Cup, Saturday honours went to Carlos Cano (UAX SeventyTwo Artbox) while Iker Garcia (GV Tamoil Racing) claimed pole in the Stock™ European Championship.
FIM JuniorGP
• Uriarte took pole position for the two races at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya with a 1’47.610s, a tenth clear of Jesus Rios (Finetwork Mir Racing Team) in second, with Marco Morelli (GRYD – MLav Racing) completing the front row. 0.165s separated the trio.
• Zen Mitani (Asia Talent Team) took his best qualifying result in JuniorGP with fourth. He’s joined on the second row by Veda Pratama (Astra Honda Racing Team) and Rico Salmela (Estrella Galicia 0,0). Salmela currently sits second in the standings.
• Uriarte can win the title this weekend, needing to be more than 75 points clear of his rivals after Race 1 or more than 50 clear after Race 2.
• Don’t miss Race 1 at 11:00 Local Time (UTC+1) and Race 2 at 14:00 Local Time.
Moto2 European Championship
• Eric Fernandez claimed pole on home soil as he headed an all-Spanish front row after posting a 1’42.489s. He was three tenths clear of Xabi Zurutuza (Andifer American Racing) in second, with Alberto Ferrandez (Team Ciatti-Boscoscuro) completing the front row.
• Championship leader Unai Orradre (Team Ciatti-Boscoscuro) will line up from fourth place with Milan Pawelec (AGR Team) and Alberto Surra (Andifer American Racing) on the second row.
• Orradre can win this year’s title in Race 2 – he needs to leave Barcelona more than 25 points clear of his competitors.
• Moto2 ECh’s two races on Sunday kick off at 12:00 Local Time and 15:00 Local Time – don’t miss out!
European Talent Cup
• Carlos Cano impressed with his fifth pole of the season in Barcelona, as theSpanish star prepares to launch from prime real estate alongside Travis Borg (GRYD – MLav) and Lorenzo Pritelli (Team Echovit Pasini Racing).
• Gabriel Tesini (AC Racing Team) goes from the head of the second row, with Yaroslav Karpushin (Frando Racing VHC Team) alongside him in P5. Alex Longarela (Sniper IGAXTeam) was P4 initially but received a back-of-the-grid penalty.
• Bujosa enters the weekend with a 29-point advantage over Cano, leaving everything to play for with just 50 points remaining up for grabs this season.
• The sole ETC race of the weekend gets underway at 13:00 LT on Sunday!
Stock European Championship
• Championship leader Iker Garcia secured pole for the penultimate Stock ECh race of the season as he looks to wrap up the title with a round to spare.
• He’s joined on the front row by his closest Championship rival, Tibor Erik Varga (IUM Motorsports S.L), in second, and Archie McDonald (Honda Team Laglisse) following his switch to Honda machinery.
• The Stock ECh’s only race of the weekend takes place at 16:00 Local Time on Sunday.
