Moto4 British Cup: Lap records shattered, final-lap scraps and title drama! What more can you ask for as the R&G British Cup rolled into Thruxton for Round 6
Frost slides to Thruxton top honours
We didn’t have to wait long! The second part of a thrilling double-header is here, and for Ryan Frost (Fibre Tec Honda By MLav Racing) it was another day in the office, stunning on Saturday, overcoming a lost knee slider and clinching victory. Frost controlled Race 1, defeating Jack Dunabie (Kovara Projects / RS Racing), who was unable to match the #24 despite incredible late-race pace. Marco Holt (City Lifting / RS Racing) returned to the podium, grabbing third in his first visit to the Hampshire venue.
At the start, it was an incredible launch from Frost, sprinting into P1 whilst Jack Burrows (Burrows Engineering / RK Racing) locked horns with Dunabie and Holt on the opening lap. Frost began to create a gap over the field as Archie Hooper (AH Racing) suffered early issues – retiring from Saturday’s contest. Further back, Luke Fitchett (Kovara Projects / RS Racing) was on the move, charging inside the top 10 on Lap 2 after starting from the back of the grid following pre-race problems.
The battle for second was one to watch as six riders tripped each other up, playing into Frost’s hands. By the halfway point, Frost’s gap had come down for the first time, with Dunabie and Holt leading the charge behind. Fitchett’s job wasn’t done either, sliding into P8 as he set his sights on the podium group. However, it wasn’t smooth sailing for Frost, with the #24 losing his knee slider and having to adjust his riding – dropping time in the process.
Although some time was lost, Frost was holding onto the lead in a simply remarkable performance. Everything (as expected) came down to the final lap of action as Frost fended off Dunabie following an incredible ride – picking up a crucial 25 points in the process. Dunabie and Holt followed, with the #37 picking up the fastest lap – setting a new lap record. Meanwhile, Harrison Day (LRA Moto supported by HV Solutions) suffered late drama and dropped to P12 following a final lap excursion.
Just 0.633s split Frost, Dunabie and Holt following an incredible final lap and impressive rides from the trio. Burrows clinched fourth, leaving Mason Foster (Ultrawhippet) to round out the top five. Fitchett clawed his way to sixth, beating Clayton Edmunds (City Lifting / RS Racing) and Tyler Humphries (Fibre Tec Honda By MLav Racing) in the process. George Bowes (A Edwards Racing) and Alex Remesal-Lomas (Fibre Tec Honda By MLav Racing) took out the top 10, whilst Dunsley Heat Racing’s Joshua Williams suffered a late DNF.
Frost times Sunday’s attack to perfection
Ryan Frost adds another win to his CV, securing his seventh victory of the season and extending his Championship lead to 35 points following an incredible Sunday ride. The #24 finished ahead of rookie sensation Marco Holt, who finished a mere 0.155s behind in Race 2. Meanwhile, Jack Dunabie took third, completing another rock-solid ride following a dramatic visit to Thruxton for the R&G British Cup.
Jack Burrows experienced an initial good launch on Sunday, before being challenged by Dunabie and Frost at Turn 1. Frost got to work in the early laps, throwing down the hammer on Lap 1 as he attempted to stretch a gap over the field. Dunabie and polesitter Holt had other ideas, igniting battle with the #24 on the UK’s fastest circuit. The fighting only invited Burrows, Thorley Trevorrow (Fibre Tec Honda By MLav Racing) and Luke Fitchett – making it six riders fighting for victory.
Dunabie held the advantage at the midway point, trading blows with Frost and in search of a crucial 25 points. Holt wasn’t shy either, beginning to scrap with Burrows, who in turn set the early pace. Burrows was getting his elbows out, eventually finding a way into Race 2’s lead. Trading blows and even trading some paint, it’s what we’ve come to expect in 2026 in what was a crucial race.
Elsewhere, Clayton Edmunds was holding off Mason Foster, Alex Remesal-Lomas, Harrison Day and more in an epic second group battle for P7. Fitchett clocked the fastest time in the closing laps before Holt demolished the fastest lap on the final lap. Frost held the advantage despite some backmarker drama, holding onto the advantage at the line and defeating Holt as Dunabie claimed P3.
Frost, Holt and Dunabie were your podium finishers, leaving 0.327s splitting the leading trio after Race 2. Burrows missed out on a rostrum result for the second time this weekend as Tyler Humphries claimed P5 and Fitchett completed the front group in sixth – showing further signs of progress. Remesal-Lomas clinched seventh, beating Edmunds and George Bowes as Trevorrow rounded out the top 10. Further back, Finley Polhill (Wilson Racing) took the final point in P15 as Mason Foster suffered a late DNF.
