British Superbikes: Redding And Ryde Make It Three Different Race Winners In Dramatic Snetterton RacesBritish Superbikes: Scott Redding and Kyle Ryde shared the ZYN British Superbike Championship race victories in two dramatic races at Snetterton today (Sunday), making it three different race winners in as many races after Bradley Ray was victorious yesterday.

Redding emerged victorious in race two of the weekend in an incident-packed race, which saw reigning champion Ryde and title rival Ray dramatically make contact, with the McAMS Yamaha rider crashing out at high-speed at Riches.

Hager PBM Racing Team’s Redding led the pack from Max Cook and Ryde with Ray holding fourth, but as the pack approached Wilson for the first time there was an incident involving Leon Haslam, Josh Brookes and Ilya Mikhalchik with the three riders crashing out.

The BMW Safety Car was deployed following the incident and when the race resumed on lap three, Redding held off his rivals on the restart, which then became a four-way battle between Redding, Ryde, Cook and Ray.

Redding was holding strong to the chequered flag, but behind Ray had made a move on Cook to take third and then had Ryde in his sights.

McAMS Yamaha’s Ray made his move on Ryde at Murrays to move second on lap nine, but as the pair approached Riches for the next time there was contact between the pair as Ryde bid to regain the position, sending Ray dramatically crashing out.

Ryde was handed a long lap penalty for the incident; he crossed the line in second place on track ahead of Cook at the finish, but he was issued a three-second time equivalent penalty, which demoted him to third place.

It was an impressive comeback from Rory Skinner; the Cheshire Mouldings Yamaha started 19th on the grid and carved his way through to fourth to finish ahead of Christian Iddon and rookie Joe Talbot.

Ryde though claimed his first Superbike race win at Snetterton in the final race to celebrate his 200th BSB race start in style, holding off the early pressure from closest rivals Redding and Ray.

Cook again got off to a flying start from the front row, launching ahead of Redding, Ray and Ryde with Ryan Vickers holding a top five position.

Cook was holding the lead from Redding and Ray, but on lap five Ryde made his move. He dived down the inside of Ray at Wilson and Vickers also saw an opportunity, making a pass into fourth, relegating Ray into fifth place.

A lap later and the leading five contenders shuffled again at Wilson; Redding attempted a pass for the lead on Cook, but the pair both went wide and it gave Ryde the chance to grab the lead.

Ryde then continued to deliver a pace inside the lap-record to edge the pack, but the pressure was on Redding with Vickers, Cook and Ray looking for the final podium places of the weekend.

On lap nine, Cook lost ground at Wilson after taking evasive action as he closed on Vickers on the brakes, which opened the door for Ray to make a move into fourth.

Redding was holding second with Vickers and Ray in close contention, but on lap 13 there was an error from the Honda Racing UK rider and it gave the McAMS Yamaha contender the edge to move third.

Ray was closing on Redding for second place until the chequered flag, but it wasn’t enough to wrestle away the position on the final lap.

Vickers equalled his best result of the season in fourth place, with Leon Haslam holding off Rory Skinner for the final position in the top five.British Superbikes: Redding And Ryde Make It Three Different Race Winners In Dramatic Snetterton Races

“It felt good to win race two, especially as Race three felt different. I started to lose the front a little bit more and I couldn’t turn the bike as well as I wanted to and I was running wide.

“In race two I was just doing my rhythm and all of a sudden I had Brad breathing down my neck with like two laps to go. Out of nowhere the gap was like 1.5 and then I thought I saw .8 and thought that was the wrong pit board and then I saw zero going into the last lap and I thought I don’t need this right now!

“I just defended everywhere and did so as best as possible and managed to bring it home, I am in second in the overall points and brought back the Quattro Race of Aces trophy again, so I’m happy with the weekend.”

“I’ll definitely take the results I’ve got! Snetterton has never been a winning hunting ground for me so to get my first win here means a lot, especially on my 200th race.

“I think my tyre was definitely shot with three to four laps to go, but getting into the front where I did gave me the advantage. In the middle I did five or six really good laps where I pulled a gap and then the last couple of laps I kept the gap, which isn’t as easy as you can make mistakes when you know you have the gap.

“It will make the journey a lot better tonight and next is off to watch the football!”
